On Sunday, October 25, 1936 the Detroit News held is first exploratory hike on Rouge Park's Wildwood Trail to see if there would be interest in starting a Hiking Club. 1600 enthusiastic hikers arrived and the Detroit News Hiking Club was born. It went on to become an immensely popular social institution with over 8,000 active members over the next 20 years. Join us to re-enact that historic hike exactly 90 years to the minute later.
